Wet and Cold Winter Storms Coming to Humboldt County!

Let us remember the men, the women and the children, our brothers and sisters, our mothers and fathers, our sons and daughters who are huddled under a bush shivering in the rain.

Please join me in contacting Eureka Mayor Frank Jager and requesting that he use the emergency powers vested in him to open an emergency shelter in a city facility for our homeless during this rainy period, and during the rainy periods to come this winter.

Mayor’s Office: (707) 441-4200

Mayor Jager Email:  fjager@ci.eureka.ca.gov

It is the responsibility of our government to care for the vulnerable among us.  Until the mid-1980s muncipal facilities in Eureka were routinely opened for humanitarian purposes during bad weather events.  What have we become?

Demand Your Rights to Safe Access in Eureka – Deregulate Marijuana – Let the Dispensary Ban Sunset

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 8, 2012 by highboldtage

shortlink here:  http://wp.me/pbr9G-3sW
The “emergency” ban on medical marijuana dispensaries is about to sunset in early November.  Call every member of the city council and DEMAND that the ban on dispensaries be allowed to sunset, and thereafter that medical marijuana dispensaries be allowed to be licensed in the city like any other legal business without discrimination.
The city council in Los Angeles was FORCED to rescind its ban on dispensaries just this week  because the people down there got ORGANIZED AND GATHERED 40,000 SIGNATURES TO RESCIND THE BAN.
Stand up for your rights!
Besides allowing legal and safe access to needed medicine, deregulation of the medical marijuana business here in Eureka will quickly fill half a dozen empty storefronts and industrial buildings and will provide good employment for 50 or 60 people.
Call every city council person – they all represent you – and demand that they do the right thing for mmj patients and the economic health of Eureka!
Remind them that if they do nothing – and let the dispensary ban sunset – that the Feds can do nothing to them.  They cannot be prosecuted by the Feds for something they haven’t done.
Remind them that they cannot discriminate against legal dispensary businesses – to do so is to invite expensive antidiscrimination lawsuits that WILL  BE LOST just like so many recent lawsuits against the city!
When you contact your city council person be civil, but be firm!

City of Eureka Trashes Native Plant Garden

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on September 19, 2012 by highboldtage

from Xandra Mann:
City of Eureka Damages The Old Town Native Plant Garden on 2nd and H St
The City of Eureka decided to work on the Old Town Native Plant Garden while I was out of town for four days.  Upon my return I couldn’t believe what they did to the beautiful garden I spent three years creating.
Many of the plants had beautiful flowers this summer and some were still flowering while others had set seeds and fruits.  These plants were cut in a way that removed the majority of the vegetative mass including fruit, seeds and habitat that birds, butterflies and bees depend upon.
The City heavily pruned many plants and actually removed many others.  This vegetation was bagged and removed along with the mulch and topsoil, exposing the majority of the ground surface, leaving the garden damaged, exposed and vulnerable to invasive species and weeds I have spent years controlling.  These plant materials and topsoil would have suppressed weeds and enabled native wild flowers to sprout instead.
We have always cared for the garden by hand because we noticed salamanders, butterfly larva and tree frogs living in the mulch and on plants.  By removing such huge quantities of plant materials the City eliminated the habitat for these sensitive species.
We are volunteers and we adopted this garden which had been neglected.  We invested many hours of our time and many dollars obtaining diverse native plant species and maintaining them.  The volunteer program is intended to help the financially strapped City. It should be supported.  All we are asking is that the City let us know when they are unhappy with our work and we will work together to fix any problems.   Please contact Public Works to talk to Tom Coyle, Bruce Young and Mike Knight and let the City know how you feel. 707-441-4192 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            707-441-4192

UFO Sighting Eureka CA July 31 2012

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on September 18, 2012 by highboldtage

“On July 31, 2012 at approximately 6:12pm I just so happened to be outside taking a break from work; with another coworker, having a cigarette. Then while we were talking I started to look up at this bamboo bush I had just recently trimmed and in the corner of my eye I noticed something dark moving very subtly across the sky. And as I turned my head in reaction to this movement there it was gleaming in the sunny blue sky, a bright dark (almost holographic in appearance) luminous metallic object that stopped abruptly in response to me turning in its general direction. I caught myself being completely bewildered and while I pointed up at the sky I asked my coworker to come over and tell me what she thought this thing was? We booth stood there for a minute in astonishment, scratching our heads trying to persuade ourselves it was a planefor what else could it be, after all it was flying in the sky. Then I think we began to come to light that it wasnt actually flying but it was hovering: stationary in a 60 angle from our vantage point on the ground, about 500ft up in the sky. There wasnt a single sound being omitted from the craft and as it continued to hover above a cloud we came to the realization that it also was lacking any wings that are needed for flight. It had a smooth almost plasma like exterior surface that was practically black, but yet despite it being composed of a dark color you might associate with a shadow it was shinny and illuminating dark color that was injected even onto the cloud it was above. We only were able to see the craft from its profile and it was cigar-shape: cylindrical in appearance: and the front end of the craft had a bigger much wider circumference than the back which seemed to somewhat taper off. The craft was really streamed lined with no window and if I were to label the architecture of the craft I would say its very modern and ultra-futuristic in design. We booth we looking together at the strange object in the sky which also resembled what you might think a submarine looks but only this submarine was hovering up in the sky and then my coworker turned around and sat back down in her seat smoking her cigarette with her back to the ufo.”
