Renters – Eureka’s Biggest Unorganized Political Bloc

Some of the flotsam and jetsam from the City of Eureka’s Rental Inspection Ordinance debate a couple of years ago (was it autumn 2009?) was the fact (attibuted to Sydney Olsen) that fully half of the housing units in the City of Eureka are rental units.  That implies that something around half (or more) of the electorate are renters.

It seems to me that the class of “renters” is sorely under-represented on the Eureka City Council.

It seems to me that a candidate who is able to galvanize, organize and represent the interests of the class of “renters” in Eureka will have a very solid base.

have a peaceful day,

Bill
