Shout Out to the UFCW (The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union)

We are about to get WalMarted.

Maybe you could come here and stealthily organize a critical mass of potential WalMart employees before the store opens.  Then call for  a workplace election.

This is just an idea and I can’t of course speak for the community as a whole.  But think about it please.

  1. If history is any indicator, a unionized workforce is the only thing that makes Wal-Mart give up on an area they have their eye on. In 2005 they shut down a Canadian Wal-Mart rather than face unionization at one of their stores (which wouldn’t hurt their profitability very much, but represents the “danger of a good example” and therefore cannot be allowed to exist no matter what the cost).

I’m actually optimistic about the community’s resilience to a local WalMart. Target is just as disruptive to communities as WalMart, and we’ve been Targetted for years.

  2. Hello! Very good job(this site)! Thank you man.
