Earth’s Planetary Stalker

There is a fascinating asteroid named 2009 BD, about 10 meters in size (a decent sized spacecraft LOL) that is stalking the Earth.  It is following the Earth around the Sun keeping roughly about the distance of the moon from us.

Here is an orbital diagram:

The scientists say there is currently no danger of 2009 colliding with Earth, but it is very nearby.  It sometimes comes close to the Moon as well.  The consensus seems to be that at some point it will come too close to the Earth’s gravitational field and then be slingshotted out into the solar system.
