Will AIG Be Too Big To Fail Again?

One type of fallout from Japan’s disasters is likely to be financial.  Will the American taxpayers be asked to bail out AIG again?

“AIG, which operates four businesses in Japan under the umbrella of Chartis Inc, accounts for just under 9 per cent of Japan’s vast property and casualty insurance market, making it the market’s largest foreign insurer and fourth largest overall. It acquired the majority stake in Japanese insurer Fuji Fire & Marine last year. The group is likely to face considerable claims related to Friday’s earthquake.”
