Home Depot looks to add businesses to its parking lots

The parking lot of a Home Depot in Rancho Cordova is wide open at noon, long after the earlymorning construction crew rush; the company says a quarter of its stores – about 500 – could support an acre-sized business in the parking lot.

Home Depot, the big-box hardware store, is taking a hard look at those acres of blacktop surrounding their stores – and seeing dollar signs.
