In other news, the topic of this thread, the judge DISMISSED Kim Verbana Starr’s suit:

A judge has sided with the city of Eureka and four members of its police force in a civil lawsuit brought forward by activist Kim Starr, who claimed her civil rights were violated when she was arrested while attending Occupy Eureka protests on three separate occasions in Nov. 2011.

In addition to Eureka Police Chief Murl Harpham, the suit named EPD sergeants Patrick O’Neil and Mike Guy, as well as Officer Terry Liles.

In the ruling issued Tuesday, a visiting judge out of Sacramento stated that the city and its officers acted professionally “despite the fact that there was ‘clear and immediate danger’ due to the protest and attempts by Occupiers to deliberately elicit a reaction from Officers,” according to a city of Eureka press release.

Starr is just one in a group of people associated with the Occupy Eureka movement who have filed claims for damages against the city, its police department and various county offices stemming from several incidents in November 2011, December 2012 and January 2013, in which police arrested Occupy protesters in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse.

According to the city’s release, a commissioner earlier ruled in favor of the city and the EPD officers in a similar lawsuit brought forward by James Decker who was detained at an Occupy Eureka protest on Nov. 30, 2011

i have mead no threats i merely stated my opinion on the Second amendment, i reserve all my rights including my right to defend my self. i shall rephrase; it is a human right for the people to be able to adequately defend ones self. it is a human right for the “people” to control their government. the second amendment was put in places for this vary instants, it is their so the people may be able to protect them selves from enemy governments both foreign and domestic. our current government has declared America a “war-zone”* and with it its people an enemy**.

Mr Carr has a social problem. He irritates people incessantly but that’s neither a crime nor a mental illness.

He has told me he would like a job. I know that might seem like a challenge but its also another starting point.

You admit that Mr. Carr has mental problems. That’s great. Acknowledgement is one of the first steps on the road to recovery.

However, there are plenty of social services available through the county. Has he went to the county and tried to obtain services? I doubt it.

Mr. Carr’s threats in the newspaper are scary. If I was a local govt employee, I’d be filing a restraining order to keep him away from the county courthouse and eureka city hall.
