Wexler Co-Sponsors Kucinich’s Impeachment Articles
Congress Must Act Immediately
Last night on the floor of the House, Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio introduced Articles of Impeachment against President George Bush. On the heels of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report confirming that Americans were misled into war with Iraq, and the admissions of former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, Kucinich introduced thirty-five articles of impeachable offenses. The articles cover a wide range of offenses—the mishandling of the war, torture, extraordinary rendition, imprisoning children, tampering with elections, illegal spying on Americans, misuse of signing statements, etc.—read them here, or watch the video, here.
Earlier today, Rep. Robert Wexler became the second co-sponsor.
Tonight, the House Clerk is reading the articles into the record and Rep. Kucinich is expected to make a motion–Congress has 72 hours to table it, send it to committee, pass it, or reject it.
Please take swift action! Send an email to your member of Congress, now. Tomorrow, call your member of Congress at the Capitol Switchboard (202) 224-3121, and ask them to follow the rule of law and support impeachment proceedings.
